Located in Central Bangalore, it’s been around since 1989. It’s a great way for people of all ages to spend a few hours. You’re guaranteed both fun and learning!

How to reach Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium from RT Nagar:

These are the top 3 options using public transport:

Option #1: Using BMTC bus no. 415-A

  • Start your journey at HMT Layout in RT Nagar.
  • Hop on to bus no. 415-A.
  • Get down at Basaveshwara Circle Sophiya School, and walk down to the Planetarium.

Option #2: Using BMTC bus no. 415-D and 293 HNRJ-SOPHIYA

  • Once again, begin your commute at the HMT Layout bus stand at RT Nagar.
  • Catch bus no. 415-D to Indian Express.
  • From Indian Express, get on to bus no. 293 HNRJ-SOPHIYA. 
  • Get off at Basaveshwara Circle Sophiya School, and walk down to the Planetarium.

Option #3: Using BMTC bus no. 13-S and SBS-SPHSL

  • Here too, start your journey from HMT Layout in RT Nagar. 
  • Take bus no. 13-S to Indian Express. 
  • At Indian Express, take bus no. SBS-SPHSL to Sophiya School. 
  • From Sophiya School, you can walk down to the Planetarium.

How to reach Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium from Shivaji Nagar Bus Stand:

We found three great options for a public transport commute:

Option #1: Using BMTC bus no. KIA-7A

  • Hop on to KIA-7A at the Shivaji Nagar Bus Station. 
  • Get off at Sophiya School, and you’re within walking distance from the Planetarium.

Option #2: Using BMTC bus no. 169

  • At Shivaji Nagar Bus Station, get on to bus no. 169. 
  • Hop off the bus at RC College. 
  • Once again, you’re within walking distance of the Planetarium.

Option #3: Using BMTC bus no. SBS-SPHSL

  • Catch bus no. SBS-SPHSL from Shivaji Nagar.
  • Get off at Sophiya School, and you can walk down to the Planetarium.

How to reach Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium from MG Road:

Option #1: Using BMTC and Namma Metro

  • Depending on which is closer to you, get on to the Metro from Trinity Metro Station or MG Road Metro Station.
  • Get off at Vidhana Soudha Metro Station. 
  • Catch the Bengaluru Darshini-02 bus from Vidhana Soudha, and get off right at the Planetarium bus stand.

Option #2: Using BMTC Bus no. D06G-BMSIT and 415-A

  • Start your journey at the Electric B Station. 
  • Get on to bus no. D06G-BMSIT and get off at Cunningham Road. 
  • Next, catch bus no. 415-A to Basaveshwara Circle Sophiya School. 
  • Finally, just walk down to the Planetarium.

Option #3: Using BMTC bus no. 320-B and 415-A

  • From Electric B Station, get on to bus no. 320-B. 
  • Hop off on Cunningham Road, and then get on to bus no. 415-A. 
  • Get off at Basaveshwara Circle Sophiya School. 
  • You can walk down to the Planetarium.

Option #4: Using BMTC bus no. 197 and 415-A

  • Once again, begin your commute at Electric B Station. 
  • First, catch bus no. 197 to Cunningham Road. 
  • Next, catch bus no. 415-A to Basaveshwara Circle Sophiya School. 
  • From there, it’s a quick walk to the Planetarium.

How to reach Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium from Bangalore University:

Here are four great public transport commute options we found:


Option #1: Using BMTC bus no. BUQ-VSD

  • Get on to bus no. BUQ-VSD from Bengaluru University ADM Block. 
  • Get off at Vidhana Soudha. 
  • From there, it’s an 8-minute walk. You can also opt to take an auto, bike or cab.

Option #2: Using BMTC bus no. 235-E HST-VSD

  • From the ADM block of Bengaluru University, catch bus no. 235-E HST-VSD. 
  • Get off at Vidhan Soudha and make your way to the Planetarium.

Option #3: Using BMTC and Namma Metro

  • Catch bus no. MF-32A from Bengaluru University ADM Block.
  • Get off at the Nayandahalli Metro Station.
  • Get on to the metro and get off at the Vidhan Soudha Metro Station. 
  • Catch the Bengaluru Darshini 02 bus from Vidhan Soudha to Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium.

Option #4: Using BMTC bus no. 223-E RMS-SBS and D06G-SHS

  • Get on to bus no. 223-E RMS-SBS at the ADM Block of Bengaluru University. 
  • Get off at the GPO bus stand. 
  • Next, hop on to bus no. D06G-SHS and get off at Basaveshwara Circle Sophiya School.
