On September 27th 2021, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) announced that it has been issuing student passes. These passes are being offered at a concessional price for the benefit of Bangalore’s students. Here are the details for the same:
- For students of 6th – 10th standard, PUC (11+12) and 1st-year degree — BMTC is allowing them to travel from home to their school/college. They will need to show a student bus pass (issued in 2020-2021) or a receipt for fees paid/ID card from the current academic year.
- For ITI, diploma, bachelors (except 1st year), masters, professional, technical and medical students — BMTC has extended the validity of 2020-21 smart card student bus passes to 31st October 2021.
Times have been tough, and these measures are intended to provide some level of financial relief for students and their families.
